100 Slain in Rebel Attack, Government Says
From Times Wire Reports
Chad said it repulsed a rebel attack near the border and blamed Sudan for fighting that killed about 100 people.
Fighters with the Rally for Democracy and Liberty rebel group attacked in Adre, said Chad’s communication minister, Hourmadji Moussa Doumgor. Chad says the RDL is controlled by Sudan’s government.
Sudanese Foreign Ministry spokesman Jamal Ibrahim denied that Sudan was involved.
Doumgor said the rebels suffered heavier losses than the government. The toll could not be independently verified.
