From Times Wire Reports

Former rebels in Indonesia’s Aceh province have completed the hand-over of their weapons, fulfilling one of the most crucial points of a peace deal to end 29 years of fighting, international peace monitors said.

Under the accord, Indonesia agreed to withdraw nearly 24,000 troops from the oil- and gas-rich province by year’s end, and the rebels to surrender all firearms.

They handed in 1,018 guns.
