13 Sailors Killed in Attack on Navy Convoy
From Times Wire Reports
Thirteen Sri Lankan sailors were killed when their convoy was attacked in the rebel-held northeastern part of the country.
The attackers fired rocket-propelled grenades and triggered a mine as about 30 sailors were traveling by bus and truck to their base in Mannar district, said navy spokesman Cmdr. Jayantha Perera.
The government blamed Tamil Tiger rebels, but the group denied responsibility.
