Gov.’s 1st Radio Address Touts Education Plan

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger promoted his education plan Saturday in what the governor’s office said would be the first of regular weekly radio addresses.
The governor’s 2-minute, 17-second address called for voters to support his proposed constitutional amendment linking teacher pay to merit rather than tenure. “We spend almost half of the state’s budget on education, and still many of our kids are failing or dropping out,” he said. “To support the kids and the teachers, we need to do more.”
