Glen McGowan had 27 points, 13 rebounds and an emphatic dunk with 24 seconds left that helped Pepperdine to a 97-93 overtime win over host Santa Clara on Thursday night in a West Coast Conference game.

McGowan, Pepperdine’s leading scorer, had made only one field goal in a 10-minute stretch before his dunk over several Bronco defenders gave the Waves all the momentum they needed to win for the third time in five games.

Alex Acker had 26 points and six rebounds for Pepperdine, which improved to 15-12 overall and 5-7 in the conference. Kingsley Costain had 21 points, including eight in overtime.

Brandon Gay led San Diego with 26 points and 13 rebounds.

St. Mary’s 72, Loyola Marymount 71 -- E.J. Rowland tied the score with an eight-foot leaner with 12.5 seconds left, then made a steal and converted a free throw with 2.6 seconds to play at Moraga, Calif., to lead the Gaels (21-7, 8-3) over the Lions (11-14, 3-9), who were led by Matthew Knights’ 20 points.
