Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. Chief Executive Mel Karmazin said nobody at the company had received subpoenas from the Securities and Exchange Commission in relation to its agreement to hire talk-show host Howard Stern.

“Sirius has absolutely no reason to believe that this matter involves Sirius or any action of its officers, directors or employees,” Karmazin said.

Sirius shares rose 19% in the three days before the Oct. 6 announcement that the company would hire Stern.
