CIA Chief’s Silence

Re “Another Shoe Drops at CIA,” Dec. 29: The public has not yet been shown the courtesy of knowing Director Porter Goss’ vision for the CIA. It appears, from what The Times reported from an anonymous source, that he treats the firing of senior managers in a similar way. I trust that this lack of class in handling sensitive communication with his constituencies will be strongly considered if President Bush chooses to offer Goss the nomination as the new director of intelligence.

Insensitive communicators already abound throughout the Bush administration; we certainly don’t need another one.
