D.A. Plans Probe of Black Student’s Death
The New Orleans district attorney said he planned a “complete and thorough” grand jury investigation into the case of a black college student who died after a New Year’s Eve scuffle with white bouncers at a French Quarter karaoke bar.
Dist. Atty. Eddie Jordan made the announcement after the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People called for local prosecutors and the U.S. Justice Department to investigate.
Levon Jones, a senior at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, died after a fight outside the Razzoo Club and Patio.
