Seized Territory
Re “A Fiery Abbas Gets a Lift From Militants,” Jan. 2: This article about the Palestinian election refers to the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem as “territory seized in a 1967 war.”
I don’t get it. Does the phrase “to the victor go the spoils” no longer apply? When the Union defeated the Confederacy, did it “seize” the Southern states?
