Some Philanthropic Advice
To have printed an article about the outstanding humanitarian work being done by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation with a photo of Paris Hilton was, to say the least, insulting and demeaning to the work of the foundation (“Charity Begins at Home,” by Michael T. Jarvis, Metropolis, Dec. 19).
We don’t often get a chance to learn what foundations and other philanthropists do at home and abroad, traveling the world to work with populations most in need. The article was obviously intended as a cute way to juxtapose the compassionate work done by the foundation with the inane and superficial activities of this young woman.
It would be far more valuable to your readers to do an in-depth story about the good work of the Hilton Foundation and its philanthropic colleagues.
