At 66, a Professor, Writer and New Mom
A 66-year-old Romanian professor who writes children’s books claims to have become the world’s oldest woman to give birth, and doctors said she and her day-old daughter were in good condition at Giulesti Maternity Hospital in Bucharest.
Doctors said Adriana Iliescu, who is single, became pregnant through in vitro fertilization using sperm and egg from anonymous donors. They said she delivered her first child, 3-pound, 3-ounce Eliza Maria, by caesarean section Sunday and that a twin sister was stillborn.
