‘Rize-ing’ dispute

Share

In response to David Meyers [Letters, June 26], I can only pity his impoverished soul. One wonders if he has even seen this amazing movie, “Rize.”

What the young people in this miraculous film have accomplished is to invent a unique, pure and real response to all the violence and despair in their environment and, in doing so, turn their lives around in almost biblical ways.

Mr. Meyers, this is art, and if you’d had a soul, you’d see that. Contrary to all your negativism and your assertion that this is pretentious, ask yourself this question: If you were living day to day in the environment depicted in this film, and dreaded each minute that your children were exposed to it, would you prefer them to be gangbangers or the heroes in “Rize”?
