Dissidents Are Among 240 Freed by Regime

Myanmar’s military government has released about 240 prisoners, including political detainees and opposition politicians, an opposition spokesman said.
There was no indication, however, that pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi would be released from house arrest, and no sign that the releases were a sign of future political liberalization.
