Affirmative action attack lacks substance

Share

Re “No more cheating for a good cause,” Opinion, July 22

As someone who believes affirmative action is a net positive (let’s say 52-48), I was interested to read David Gelernter’s piece and understand the position of those who oppose it. Instead, I got Gelernter’s usual whiny self-righteousness and pompous dishonesty.

Does he really expect sentient readers to believe that some American students know more about some Navajo physicist than Einstein?

How about citing a single source for his ridiculous generalizations?

And how, exactly, has affirmative action “turned the United States into an aristocracy”?

Please, please, please either get Gelernter to add a little substance to his partisan fluff, or find a conservative who can write for adults.
