The abandoned strip mine where United Flight 93 crashed on Sept. 11, 2001, was expected to be returned to the control of its owners Monday.
Somerset County Coroner Wallace Miller and volunteers made a final sweep of the property this week. Hijackers crashed Flight 93 near Shanksville, 80 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
The National Park Service is to take over the area for a permanent memorial.
