Paddle-Out, Memorial Are Set for Dale Velzy

A memorial service and traditional surfer’s paddle-out for pioneer surfboard shaper Dale Velzy will be held June 14 at Doheny State Beach.
Friends and business associates from Japan and Hawaii are expected to attend the 3 p.m. ceremony in Dana Point. Velzy died Thursday of lung cancer at 77.
