Greta Lenetska Furst, 73, a longtime board member and major fundraiser for the Los Angeles Free Clinic, died of cancer Wednesday in Beverly Hills.

Furst served on the clinic board for 21 years and, with Faye Miller and Diane Sherman-Smith, founded its Auxiliary and New Friends of the Clinic, which raised money for the healthcare organization.

She received the 2004 Lenny Somberg Award at the clinic’s 28th annual dinner in December.

A singer, songwriter and actress, who performed in nightclubs around the world in the 1960s, Furst was able to enlist celebrities for Free Clinic fundraisers. As a board member of the Friends of the Clinic support group, she was co-chairwoman of a roast of Jack Klugman in 1986, with Garry Marshall as master of ceremonies.
