Celebrity activism: Supermodel Claudia Schiffer joins a growing number of celebrities urging the world’s wealthiest nations not “to turn a blind eye” to the plight of developing countries. Speaking in advance of a July summit, Schiffer, on behalf of Global Call to Action Against Poverty, asked leaders to remember: “I have two children, but if I was living in parts of Africa, I’d have a one-in-five chance of dying before their fifth birthday.”
