Changes in ‘Marketplace’

Share

“Marketplace” host David Brown will end his two years at the helm of public radio’s most popular business news program July 29. Kai Ryssdal, host of “Marketplace Morning Report” and “Sound Money,” will take over Aug. 1.

Brown, 42, has been commuting between Los Angeles, where “Marketplace” is produced, and Austin, Texas, where his fiancee resides, for the last three years. In late July he will move to Austin, where he plans to pursue a journalism doctorate at the University of Texas. He will continue contributing to “Marketplace,” he said, but he does not yet know in what capacity.

“It is the best job in radio. Period. Bar none,” said Brown. “There is no other place where they give you so much license to be creative and have a good time and at the same time to actually do real news.”
