Re “Mother Says She Put Son in Basement Before Mauling,” June 12: According to the mother of the child killed, she locked him in the basement with a shovel against the door, leaving the two pit bulls in the house. Did it never occur to her that leaving the dogs in the basement and leaving her child in the house was the correct thing to do? She should be charged in her son’s death with criminal negligence.
