What Oscars miss

WHY not have an Oscar for G and PG films so more get made and the ones that they are making are better? It seems lately that Hollywood has been turning out more and more adult films and fewer and fewer kids’ movies. There are a lot of movies that could and should be less gory. Last, it would be good for the industry. More kids going to movies means more kids will still go to movies when they are older.

The award ceremony is a cultural embarrassment and an insult to the world. As the general population struggles for a shred of a decent life -- health care, rent, food, a basic education -- only the collective Hollywood ego could justify spending months of effort and ridiculous sums of money to be acknowledged for a job. It’s a job -- work -- a job. Get it? No one has cured cancer; no one has contributed an iota to the betterment of the world. They sat on a movie set and had to be there at dawn. Oh, the suffering.
