Tray chic

ONCE used for sitting up and taking nourishment in bed or leaving a calling card, trays have become the foundation of that modern-day decorating obsession known as the “tablescape”: Take tray; add vase of flowers, bowl of fruit, candles, coral, seashells -- any or all of the above. Why not flip the script a bit? Toss your car keys in an antique silver tray on the hallway console, line up the silver-framed family photos on a leather tray that looks like a designer handbag, or try the shockingly pink and practical lazy Susan on F1. The possibilities, like the variety of trays out there, are endless.
