Hamas Commemorates Spiritual Leader’s Death

Thousands of Hamas supporters commemorated the anniversary of the assassination of spiritual leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin by Israeli airstrike, with militants telling the crowd that violence would resume if Israel did not agree to their demands.
Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar said he would participate in talks next week in Egypt, “but we are not optimistic.” Demands include an end to assassinations of Hamas leaders and the return of exiled Palestinian militants.
