Former Prime Minister, 18 Other Detainees Freed

Nepal has released former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba from house arrest and freed 18 other political detainees amid growing pressure on the country’s constitutional monarch to end the emergency rule he imposed last month.
King Gyanendra sacked Deuba and put him and other leaders under house arrest. More than 500 politicians and activists have also been detained.
