El Morro Village Subsidy Has to End

Share

As a California taxpayer, I have no problem subsidizing the rent for the park employees at the Crystal Cove cottages (March 4).

What I do have a problem with is the years and years of subsidizing those who live in the El Morro Village mobile home park.

First, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R-Irvine) suggests that park employees’ rents be based on their location assignment.

Does this mean that the rangers with the more desirable locations receive more salary that could possibly justify this sliding scale of rent?

Second, how many of the mobile homes in El Morro are rented out at high prices as the real lessee makes money at the state expense? The people in El Morro have had their day at our expense, and it’s time for them to move on.

The rangers should be appreciated and given decent housing at a fair price no matter where their assignment is.
