Oscars’ Drop in Viewers Follows Credibility Loss
Should the Academy Awards telecast’s declining viewership really surprise anyone, when the Oscars so regularly bypass the year’s best films to honor dumb but profitable mainstream junk (“Oscars Draw Fewer Viewers,” March 1)?
These awards have lost almost all credibility. Slapping a new host or format onto their broadcast doesn’t change that underlying reality.
