Pro-Syria Premier Delays Stepping Down

Lebanon’s pro-Syria Prime Minister Omar Karami delayed carrying out his promise to step down until after political consultations this week. The anti-Syria opposition accused authorities of stalling.
Karami’s intention to quit followed a deadlock over a new Cabinet that must be formed before the parliamentary election.
