Support Taiwan
Re “Anti-China Protesters Inundate Taipei,” March 27: The United States should openly declare its support for the hundreds of thousands of Taiwanese who took to the streets in defense of their freedom. President Bush should take the opportunity to denounce the totalitarian nature of the Chinese regime and its threat to attack Taiwan. And Bush should clearly state that Taiwan -- as a free nation -- has a moral right to its independence and that any attack on Taiwan would be unacceptable to the United States.
