“Deadwood” lives: HBO has ordered 12 more episodes of its western series “Deadwood,” for airing next year.

“Horror” reigns: Showtime is planning an anthology series called “Masters of Horror,” featuring original one-hour films directed by such genre veterans as Tobe Hooper, George Romero, Joe Dante, Stuart Gordon, John Carpenter and Roger Corman.

Here’s Ed: Rutledge Hill Press has set a release date of Oct. 14 for “Here’s Johnny!: My Memories of Johnny Carson, The Tonight Show, and More Than 40 Years of Friendship,” by Carson’s former sidekick, Ed McMahon. The project received Carson’s blessing before he died in January, the publisher said.
