United Online Posts Decline in Net Income

Low-cost Internet service provider United Online Inc. said quarterly profit fell, but revenue rose 21% from non-Internet access business such as online advertising.

The Woodland Hills-based company posted a first-quarter profit of $11.5 million, or 18 cents a share, compared with $12.4 million, or 18 cents, a year ago. Revenue rose to $130.5 million.

It added 214,000 subscribers in the quarter, ending the period with 6.2 million.
