Deadline to File Charges Against Pinochet Lifted
From Times Wire Reports
Chile’s Supreme Court said it was lifting its controversial six-month deadline to wrap up investigations into hundreds of human rights abuse charges under former dictator Augusto Pinochet.
The court said it was backing down from its January resolution that gave judges investigating more than 300 charges of murder, torture and kidnappings six months to file formal charges or let the cases be closed.
Critics of the limit had filed a suit this week against it.
