National Semiconductor Names COO as President

National Semiconductor Corp. named Donald “Donnie” Macleod president, spurring discussion about executive succession at one of Silicon Valley’s storied semiconductor companies.

Brian Halla, 58, will retain the titles of chairman and chief executive while handing over the position of president to Macleod effective May 30. Macleod, 56, was National’s chief financial officer for a decade and recently served as chief operating officer.
