Rapist Sentenced to 45 Years in Prison
A man convicted of raping an Anaheim woman and attempting to rape a Lake Forest woman -- both in front of their children -- was sentenced Friday to at least 45 years in prison.
Richard Jason Shepherd, 39, posed as a security guard to enter the Anaheim woman’s apartment on June 10, 2003. About a week later, prosecutors said, he grabbed the second woman as she returned to her apartment, held a knife over her 5-month-old baby, and threatened to stab the child if the mother didn’t submit.
Shepherd fled when an older son appeared, and was later arrested after a hit-and-run accident.
