Luminaries left their deft marks
Architect Lloyd Wright, the son of icon Frank Lloyd Wright, designed and built this Los Feliz home in 1928 for Hollywood business manager Louis Samuel.
The four-story home, made of steel and concrete grout as a variation on the concrete-block system, was sold in 1931 to silent screen star Ramon Novarro.
He hired Wright to create a music room and add a pergola and a walled garden. From then on, the property has been called the Samuel-Novarro House, although Novarro sold the house in the ‘40s.
Another Hollywood figure bought it in the early ‘90s. It was one of the first of many houses purchased over the years and restored by actress Diane Keaton. She retained designer Josh Schweitzer to refurbish the interiors before she sold the home.
About the seller: Novelist-screenwriter David Madsen and his interior-designer wife, Christine, now own the house.
Asking price: $2,995,000
Size: It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms in 2,690 square feet. The lot size is 14,840 square feet.
Features: There are city and canyon views, concrete floors and a dramatic, open living room. A large office, once the music room, has a terrace with a walkway leading to a sitting area among bamboo trees. The pool area is nearby. The home also has dining and family rooms.
