Re “Shooting Spurs TV News Debate,” May 12: Am I to understand that we the citizens of Los Angeles should not be allowed to watch “live” pursuits and apprehensions because it fuels the fires of dissent, i.e., the public versus law enforcement? Gee, that reminds me of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s comments about cameras inside the Iraqi prison.
I contend that we have every right as citizens and taxpayers to see “live” what is happening around us. To pressure our news purveyors to withhold information from us is unconstitutional.
