Cloud Gate still needs buffing

From Times wire reports

Cloud Gate, the massive, bean-shaped sculpture that the city of Chicago had hoped to unveil in Millennium Park on Monday, may not be completed until the end of the summer, park officials say. It turns out that buffing out seams between the 168 polished, stainless steel plates that make up the 110-ton sculpture was far more labor-intensive than originally had been thought, they explained.

The city plans to partly unveil about 20% of the sculpture today, and the tent covering the rest of it will be removed gradually as sections are polished, officials said.

The price tag for the sculpture is now estimated at $17 million, which includes $1 million paid to the artist, Anish Kapoor.
