Ed always plays it safe
Regarding “He Beat the Beast” [May 24]: When Ed Viesturs summitted K2 with the late Scott Fisher, Scott said that neither he nor another climber could find the path down in the diminishing light and blowing snow. Ed crouched down low and was able to find the remnant of the footsteps not quite filled with snow. Scott was very humble about the situation, saying, “Ed saved my life on K2.”
