The Web is better

RE “Reviews Spelled Out in Four-Word Letters” [Nov. 20]: The Four Word Film Review website [www.fwfr.com] nicely captures the limits of television and shows why the Internet will replace it. The bulk of the website is devoted to quirky and very short reviews, much as the bulk of TV offers entertainment and flash but little substance.

There is a portion of the website, however, “where cinema lovers discuss movies in depth,” which provides the kind of exchange of information necessary to form thoughtful opinions. TV has no equivalent “forum” to exchange ideas, which is why the Internet represents a paradigm shift beyond television.
