Five Soldiers Killed in Militant Attack

Suspected Islamic insurgents shot and killed five soldiers while they were eating dinner at a military outpost in southern Thailand, officials said.
Army spokesman Col. Somkuan Saengpataranetr said the attackers arrived in a pickup truck and on motorcycles, and fired at the soldiers.
The attack occurred in the Cho Airong district of Narathiwat province, a center of insurgent activity about 500 miles south of Bangkok.
