Poor Africans Try Again to Cross Into Enclave
From Times Wire Reports
For the fifth time in a week, hundreds of destitute Africans from sub-Saharan countries rushed Morocco’s border with the Spanish enclave of Melilla, scrambling up a razor-wire fence; most were grabbed by the legs and yanked back by police.
About 65 people made it across, and some said Moroccan officers had beaten the climbing men with truncheons.
Many would-be migrants journey for months and even years in hope of getting into Melilla, which is seen as a gateway to work in Europe.
