Knoll’s was gemutlich

We beg to differ with S. Irene Virbila’s article “One Big Garden Party” (Sept. 26), in which she characterizes Knoll’s Black Forest Inn as “dowdy.”

The Knoll family provided an elegant linen service that was the center of European cuisine for the Westside for 40 years. The restaurant was immaculate, the service and food superb.

It is a disservice to besmirch the memory of this former standard of excellence.
