Ordering up a captive audience

Re “She’d Like His Flirting to Go” [Oct. 6]: I know why that person flirts with waitresses. I have a close male friend who does that all the time. It’s because the waitresses are unable to leave the situation.

Compare that with a bar. If he were to flirt in a bar, he takes the chance they’ll just turn away and he’s rejected. This way, he retains control and his prey are unable to express their true feelings about his advances.
