Pasadena Playhouse has confirmed that it will present “Sister Act,” a stage musical version of the 1992 movie, to be directed by former Disney executive Peter Schneider, from Nov. 3 to 26, 2006. The score is by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, with a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner.

It will cap a 2006 season that will begin with “Diva” (Jan. 20 to Feb. 19), a behind-the-scenes look at a temperamental sitcom star written by former “Cybill” executive producer Howard Michael Gould. La Jolla Playhouse first presented “Diva” immediately after Sept. 11, 2001.

Pasadena will collaborate with L.A.’s Cornerstone Theater in Alison Carey’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” to contemporary Southern California; directed by outgoing Cornerstone artistic director Bill Rauch, it’s scheduled for March 17 to April 16. Next up is Steven Dietz’s new play “Sherlock Holmes: The Final Destination” (May 9 to June 11), a co-production with Arizona Theatre Company.

Summer will bring revivals of a couple of two-character musicals about marriage: “I Do! I Do!” by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones and “The Last Five Years” by Jason Robert Brown, performed in repertory (July 7 to Aug. 6). A to-be-announced show will fill a September slot.
