16% of State Households Have Struggled to Eat

A higher percentage of Texas households was at risk of going hungry than in any other state, according to data released in Austin by the U.S. Agriculture Department.
Between 2002 and 2004, more than 16% of state households at some point had trouble providing enough food for all their family members, the USDA report says.
Nationwide, 11.4% of households were at risk of going hungry during that period, the USDA said.
