Jobs commission does no political lobbying

Share

Re “Nonprofits Cloak Donors to Governor,” Aug. 24, and “Profiting from nonprofits,” editorial, Aug. 29

The article and editorial presented a narrow portrayal of the California Commission for Jobs and Economic Growth and some of its individual members, and insinuated that we may be involved in activities other than those related to promoting economic development and job creation. Contrary to what the article and editorial implied, the commission does not engage in political lobbying on behalf of individual members. Nor do any of our members expect that their participation is for any other purpose than to support the commission in its economic development work. It was unfortunate that your story failed to include a single quote or response from anyone involved in the commission. It seems almost impossible to expect a fair and balanced story when an entire side of the discussion is silenced or excluded.
