The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Matthew C. Bohling, 22, of Eagle River, Alaska; sergeant, Army. Bohling was killed Monday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Ramadi, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Benning, Ga.

George R. Draughn Jr., 29, of Decatur, Ga.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Draughn was one of two guardsmen killed Sept. 1 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 108th Cavalry Regiment, 48th Infantry Brigade, Army National Guard in Griffin, Ga.

Robert L. Hollar Jr., 35, of Griffin, Ga.; staff sergeant, Army National Guard. Hollar was one of two guardsmen killed Sept. 1 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 108th Cavalry Regiment, 48th Infantry Brigade, Army National Guard in Griffin, Ga.

Jude R. Jonaus, 27, of Miami; staff sergeant, Army. Jonaus was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their Humvee in Baghdad, causing it to roll over. He was assigned to the Brigade Troops Battalion, Division Support Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Robert N. Martens, 20, of Queen Creek, Ariz.; hospitalman, Navy. Martens died Tuesday of injuries suffered when the Humvee in which he was riding rolled over in Qaim, Iraq, near the Syrian border. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was assigned to the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Ryan J. Nass, 21, of Franklin, Wis.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Nass died Sept. 3 from a nonhostile gunshot wound at Camp Blessing in Afghanistan’s Pesch Valley, near the border with Pakistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Lonnie J. Parson, 39, of Norcross, Ga.; sergeant first class, Army. Parson was killed Sept. 2 when his Bradley fighting vehicle was struck by an explosive device in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Franklin R. Vilorio, 26, of Miami; sergeant, Army. Vilorio was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their Humvee in Baghdad, causing it to roll over. He was assigned to the Brigade Troops Battalion, Division Support Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Jeffrey A. Williams, 20, of Warrenville, Ill.; specialist, Army. Williams was killed Monday when an improvised explosive device detonated near him in Tall Afar, Iraq, near the Turkish and Syrian borders. He was assigned to the Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Luke C. Williams, 35, of Knoxville, Tenn.; specialist, Army. Williams was killed Monday when the Humvee in which he was riding rolled over into a ditch in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.
