Worker Dies at Oil Refinery After Fall

A 50-year-old maintenance worker at an Exxon Mobile oil refinery died Wednesday after he fell into a water-treatment tank, according to the Torrance Fire Department.
The man, who was not identified, was an outside contractor who was doing maintenance on the tank when he apparently slipped and fell 15 feet into the tank, Fire Capt. Steve Deuel said.
The accident occurred at 8:47 p.m. at Crenshaw Boulevard and 190th Street.
