A man who pleaded guilty to punching rap mogul Dr. Dre at the Vibe Awards in Santa Monica last year has been sentenced to a year in jail.

The judge also sentenced Jimmy James Johnson, 27, to three years’ probation and ordered him to stay away from Dre for three years, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Hamid Towfigh.

Johnson punched Dre after asking for his autograph during a taping of the show at the Santa Monica Airport on Nov. 15, setting off a chair-throwing brawl that spread through the crowd.
