Chrysler Group said it planned to license production of its minivans in China, with output to begin by the end of 2006. Separately, the company said it would produce its Chrysler 300 sedan in China, with details to be announced today.

The Chrysler minivans will be built by the China-Taiwan joint venture South East Motors Inc. in the southeastern Chinese city of Fuzhou, Chrysler said. South East Motors Inc. is a joint venture of Fujian Motor Industry Group and China Motor Corp. of Taiwan.

Chrysler’s parent company, DaimlerChrysler, has its own joint venture with the two firms to manufacture Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Viano vehicles at a new facility in Fuzhou, Chrysler said.
