From Times Wire Reports

Fifteen men pleaded guilty to participating in an uprising in eastern Uzbekistan in May that led to what human rights groups say was a government crackdown that left several hundred people dead.

The pleas came as prosecutors opened the trial and alleged that the men were linked to a Muslim extremist conspiracy to overthrow the government and create an Islamic state.
